Scientist, Mentor, Mother
"Professor of Chemistry, New York University (NYU) "
Stephanie Lee graduated with a Ph.D. in chemical engineering and materials science from Princeton in 2012. She was a NYU Provost Postdoctoral Fellow in chemistry for two years before joining Stevens Institute of Technology, an undergraduate-focused institution with a small Ph.D. program, as an assistant professor in the chemical engineering and materials science department in 2014. Lee returned to NYU in 2021 as an associate professor and recently was promoted to full professor. Her research focuses on the processing of organic and hybrid semiconductors for optoelectronics and chiroptoelectronics, including solar panels and circularly polarized light detectors. Over the past 11 years, Lee has raised more than $4 million in research funding from the National Science Foundation, the Department of Education and industry partners, the majority of which has supported graduate student researchers.
