Hurricane Hazards and Risk Analysis

October 10, 2025 @ 2:30 pm - 3:45 pm

  • Robertson Hall, 016

About Session

Hurricanes cause catastrophic damage and loss of life worldwide, and their impacts may worsen in the coming decades due to rapid coastal development, coupled with sea-level rise and possibly increasing hurricane activity. Here, Ning Lin *10 CEE, professor of civil and environmental engineering at Princeton, introduces a holistic modeling framework for hurricane hazard projection and risk analysis. She will discuss a few application examples, including quantifying hurricane-blackout-heatwave compound risk and developing adaptive coastal protection strategies.
