Ajay Bisaria is a corporate adviser, commentator, author and former diplomat. As a strategic business adviser and independent director, he guides global firms and asset managers on navigating geopolitics, governments, regulations and risks. He is a distinguished fellow at the Observer Research Foundation, India’s premier private sector think tank. Earlier, in a career spanning 35 years in the Indian Foreign Service, Bisaria dealt with some of India’s key economic and security relationships. He served as Indian ambassador in Canada (2020-22), Pakistan (2017-20) Poland and Lithuania (2015-17). His diplomatic journey has included stints at the World Bank in Washington and in embassies in Berlin and Moscow. He has served in key government roles in India, including in the prime minister’s office, where he was an aide to Atal Bihari Vajpayee (1999-2004). He has a B.A. in economics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi; an MBA from India Institute of Management Calcutta; and a master’s in public policy from Princeton. He writes extensively on geopolitics and economic issues, including in The Times of India.
