Alexander Michaelides has been a professor of finance at Imperial Business School in London since 2013. He has been working either in London or in Nicosia, Cyprus, since earning his Ph.D. in economics from Princeton in 1997. Being a Fulbright Scholar between 1989 and 1993 forced a two-year home residency requirement between 1998 and 2001 at the University of Cyprus. From 2001-09, he was on the faculty at the London School of Economics, and from 2009-13 he returned to Cyprus, first as senior researcher at the European Central Bank and then as professor of finance at the University of Cyprus. He served as head of the finance department at Imperial Business School from 2014-21 and currently is the director of post graduate studies (for Ph.D.s). His broad research interests are in the area of macrofinance and investments.
