Caridad Estrada, a presidential fellow and Ph.D. candidate, focuses on environmental remediation, combining molecular simulations and experimental work to better understand materials and organic contaminant behavior. Beyond the lab, Estrada is deeply involved in campus life. She serves as vice president of the Graduate Student Government, where she advocates for student representation in decision-making, financial transparency and inclusive institutional policies. She leads several student organizations, including the Graduate Society of Women Engineers as vice president, and co-created a Python learning cohort for graduate students from all academic backgrounds. With a strong commitment to mentoring and community building, Estrada is passionate about creating spaces where students feel seen, supported and empowered.
