Department of French and Italian
Cecelia Ramsey is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of French and Italian at Princeton University, where she studies book history, reception and translation. Her dissertation explores literary revivals — why certain works are “rescued” from the past and given new life. Before Princeton, she earned an M.A. in literary translation from New York University and worked at a literary agency, deepening her commitment to the power of books to connect across time and space. At Princeton, she teaches regularly with the Prison Teaching Initiative and has served as a GradFUTURES Social Impact Fellow with Freedom Reads and the Petey Greene Program, expanding access to literature and education for those who are currently and formerly incarcerated. She also co-leads the Student Friends of the Princeton University Library, fostering student engagement with Princeton’s outstanding collections and building community around a shared love of books.
