Jennifer Valentino-DeVries is a reporter on the investigative team at The New York Times, where she specializes in using novel data and methodologies to shed light on complex subjects. She writes frequently about the far-reaching effects of technology on society. In 2022, she was part of a team that won the Pulitzer Prize in national reporting for coverage of systemic failures in American policing that lead to avoidable deaths. Before joining the Times, she spent more than a decade at The Wall Street Journal, often covering digital surveillance, privacy and security. Valentino-DeVries received her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and her master’s in public policy from the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs.
