Founder and CEO, Mission Asset Fund
José A. Quiñonez is the founding CEO of Mission Asset Fund (MAF), a San Francisco-based financial institution that has made tremendous strides in providing timely, culturally relevant and successful financial products and services to low-income and marginalized immigrant communities. Under his leadership, MAF has provided $95 million in zero-interest loans and direct cash assistance, combined with actionable financial education, to more than 100,000 people. His accomplishments have been recognized with awards such as a MacArthur Award, an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from the University of San Francisco, the James Irvine Leadership Award, the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs’ Distinguished Alumnus Award and the San Francisco Business Times “Most Admired CEO” award. Quiñonez has also served as the inaugural chair for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s Consumer Advisory Board and is currently a member of the Federal Reserve Bank, US Bank, Experian and Capital One consumer advisory boards. He holds a bachelor of arts in Chicano studies from the University of California-Davis and a master in public affairs from Princeton.
