With support from the National Institutes of Health and the Pamela and Stephen Della Pietra Family Foundation, Lauren Hale studies sleep health equity, policies related to sleep health (e.g., high school start time, daylight saving time), and behavioral modifications (e.g., reducing evening and nighttime screen use, increasing physical activity) for improving sleep health at the individual and population level. Hale served on the National Sleep Foundation’s board of directors (including as chair and vice chair) and is the founding editor-in-chief of the journal Sleep Health. She also chaired the National Sleep Foundation’s expert consensus panel on screen use and sleep health. She currently serves on the scientific advisory panels of Beyond Bedtime (formerly Pajama Program) and Children and Screens: Institute of Digital Media and Child Development.
