Taylor Nelson is a manager at Bloomberg Associates, the philanthropic consulting arm of Bloomberg Philanthropies. In this role, she advises global mayors’ offices on ways to strengthen internal operations, develop impact-measurement frameworks, and leverage data and technology to improve service delivery. Previously, Nelson was the executive programs coordinator for the City of Detroit, where she helped lead efforts to integrate refugees into the city and connect immigrant communities to critical community resources. For her efforts, she was recognized by Crain’s Detroit Business as a “Twenty in their 20s” honoree and by the Michigan Chronicle as a “40 Under 40” honoree. Nelson’s career began in education, teaching special education in Georgia through Teach for America, and English as a second language in France as part of a joint initiative between the French Ministry of Education and Villa Albertine. She holds a Master in Public Affairs from Princeton, with a concentration in domestic urban policy, and a B.A. in English with distinction, along with a minor in French and Francophone studies, from the University of Michigan.
